Mushin Budo is just a name which is used to represent our entire system of  Martial Arts and our Schools.

The name in itself represents the open , or flowing mind of the Warrior and the Art of War.

Our Instructors hail from varied backgrounds in the Martial Arts. Each has spent years studying various Martial Arts styles. Which therefore makes our system an ecclectic style of Martial Arts. Traditional because we hold to the teachings and values of the old school. And yet modern because we have taken the various Arts we have studied, taken the best of them and put them together to fit today's world.

Master Matthew Durant has over 40 years of study in the Martial Arts. He has been teaching well over 20 years.

His study of the Arts began at age 4 under the instruction of his Father, Grand Master Gerard Durant. He began studying Karate Do. As he progressed, he also began to learn Aikijutsu and Kobudo. (Japanese and Okinawan Weaponry)

Over the years he has been priveledged to work with and study with some great Martial Artists. Some which he had attained rankings through, most whom he just was able to learn different aspects and techniques from.

As the years went on he opened his own school and began teaching. After years of teaching he wanted to become the student again. So began his study of the Japanese Sword Arts.

Master Durant holds a ranking of 8th Degree Black Belt in Karate , 7th Degree Black Belt in Aikijutsu, 4th Degree Black Belt in Mushin Budo Iai Jutsu, and a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Ryu Sei Ken Kenjutsu.

Master Durant is also the State Representative for the International Batto Do Shizan Association out of Sakai,Japan I.B.D.S.A. is under the direction of Soke Mitsuhiro Saruta , founder of the Ryu Sei Ken Kenjutsu style of  Iaijutsu.
